On 10 October 2014 Cork City Libraries launched 'The Statue', written by Antóin O'Callaghan. The book is a history of the commissioning and erection of the monument to Father Theobald Mathew, the 'Apostle of Temperance'. The book can be purchased in any branch of Cork City Libraries for €10. Below is a short film shown by the author at the launch, which marked the 150th anniversary of the unveiling of the Father Mathew Statue in St Patrick's Street.
During his research for the book, Antóin O'Callaghan interviewed several Cork personalities to record their thoughts on what 'The Statue' means to them.
