William Maziere Brady’s Clerical and Parochial Records of Cork, Cloyne and Ross, published between 1863 and 1864, are one of the most important sources for students of the history of the Church of Ireland in Cork. The three volumes contain a wealth of information about the parishes of the Church of Ireland in Cork, the clergymen who served in them, and their families. Brady had access to church records in Dublin, London, and Oxford — including some that were later lost in the fire in the Four Courts during the Civil War. They are indispensable for serious researchers into church history.
In 1873, Brady (1825-1894) was received into the Roman Catholic Church and served as chamberlain to two popes, Pius IX and Leo XIII.
